Alison Englar-Carlson PhD
Licensed Education Psychologist – #2849 & Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, #1007
My experience includes over 18 years of working with children and their families in the field of educational psychology (i.e., school counseling and school psychology).
I have experience in the public school system, private schools, and in community settings. My broad experiences have helped me clearly understand both the workings of the public and private school systems. I have been trained in counseling and to utilize specialized testing procedures to diagnose and describe the cognitive, behavioral and social/emotional issues of children. I practice evidence-based practice and utilize the most recent and widely accepted assessment tools for my work.
In addition, to being a credentialed School Psychologist, I am also licensed to practice Educational Psychology and Clinical Counseling privately in California, and I have had extensive experience in counseling. I am available for private counseling and consultation services related to school issues and adjustment difficulties including social, emotional and behavioral concerns. I am also available to guide parents in positive discipline techniques and to help them create more organization and structure for their children.

I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with my Master’s in Counseling. In the past, I worked in a community agency with clients of all ages. Currently, I work in a residential facility with adolescents who have severe mental illness. My experience is primarily with adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm behaviors, and trauma. I also work with families to help diminish the communication gap between teenagers and their parents.
My experience has allowed me to see the resilience that every person possesses. I believe in the power of validation, expression, and communication of emotions.
I am a registered intern with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. I hold intern numbers for Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling.
